Teaching Practice


I did my teaching practice in the 8 grade of "Matapaat";the name of the class. "You know what?" I was really enjoy to teach there. I taught for about 4 times of course with the different topics. I got literature skill, vocabulary skill, and reading skill. The procedures of the teaching is almost the same with Indonesia, which are opening by greeting students, checking the attendance in also having short review about the last meeting. After opening is an action, the teacher has to explain the students about the topic continued by the application, which is about individual activity, and group activity. And at the last of the teaching process the teacher closes it by having a short review about the lesson they learned in that day. "How about the time management?" It's really different with Indonesian's system education, Indonesia each meeting has two hours class or 90 minutes, but here in Philippine, one meeting is only an hour. But as I made the lesson plan orderly, I could reach the time management of my teaching practice. And so I could organized well the activities that I wanted in every meeting. In the first time I felt so scared because I had to teach in literature, since I never study about that. But, I tried my best. Its about The Nahoon poem. I solved my problem, and I faced it so I got a good feedback that I started my practice in well prepared. But of course I still have to improve more and more. I just remember about quote "If you have problem in your life, just face it. Don't ever you think to run away from the problem because it will only make the problem bigger". I proven it. "You know what?" I got 45 students in my class, of course the bigger the class the more noisy it comes, but they are easy to be arranged. So far I could handle the class. In the second meeting I got the topic about affixes and root word, I prepared the power point presentation on it, then the 2 activities which were individual and group activities. For the group activity, I made a house of affixes and root words, then the students should know about the root words and the affixes words then put in that house. And in the last teaching I had to teach about grammar skill within the topic is connectors for time and sequence. I prepared fill in the blank questions for the individual activity, and I made a puzzle for the group activities. Each group has a different puzzle shape and questions related to connectors for time and sequence.
